Kansas Department of Labor (KDOL) - Shared Work

An innovative unemployment insurance program, Shared Work provides employers an alternative to laying off employees – thereby protecting the Kansas labor market during economic downturns. If an employer elects to participate in a Shared Work Plan, affected employees share the available work and the Kansas unemployment program picks up a portion of the lost income of employees. The Challenge was to expand Participation in the  Kansas Department of Labor’s (KDOL) Shared Work Program.

In order to increase awareness, education and ddoption of the Kansas Shared Work Program, we established a unified messaging framework to communicate consistently across multiple channels. This would help with program education and alleviate call center volume, while  communicating program nuances for Employers and Employees alike. Website, print and social rallied around a cost-efficient program overview video that spoke to the challenge points.

Program Overview Video

We created an overview video that illustrates the program at a high level, giving visual use-cases as empathetic examples. It introduces the process for administration and encourages viewers to begin the application process.

Graphics were illustrated (not stock) specifically to help reenforce the simplicity of the program and communicate subject matter in an approachable visual style. (Did we mention the voiceover talent lives in Kansas? Talk about authenticity.)
